What happened to John Ratzenberger, Pixar's lucky charm? Ratzenberger has provided a voice for a character in every Pixar film from 1995-2020. He was referred to as "Pixar's lucky charm."
Here is a list of his roles in all the Pixar films.
He had a "cameo" in the film Soul (2020), but it was only as a character that looked like him, he didn't provide any voice work. He also reprised his characters from previous movies in the Cars movie during the end credits.
I do want to add that he reprised his voice of the abominable snowman, Adorable (previously Yeti), in the Monsters At Work (2021) series in two episodes along with a new character, Bernard.
Since 2020, he hasn't graced a Pixar film with voice and has missed the movies Soul (2020), Luca (2021), Turning Red (2022), Lightyear (2022), and Elemental (2023). Is it a sign that all the films failed to perform besides Elemental, since he left Pixar?
When producer John Lasseter left Pixar, he went over to head up the new animation studio, Skydance Animation. Their first production was Luck (2022). Maybe Ratzenberger went with Lasseter because this film was his next voice role after leaving Pixar, and his most recent. He voiced Rootie.
I do want to add that he reprised his voice of the abominable snowman, Adorable (previously Yeti), in the Monsters At Work (2021) series in two episodes along with a new character, Bernard.
